Love what you’re doing at the HuffPo. I was wondering if you might be interested in an introduction/interview to/with April Ashley for your blog? She was one of the main trans figures in Europe in the 60’s and 70’s and was part of the first landmark UK trans case Corbett vs. Corbett. It was in the 70’s and she lost. In case you’re interested I’d be happy to put you in touch with her. She and I share a good friend and I know she’s open to it. She’s the author of a book called The First Lady. She also had reassignment surgery in the 60’s with Dr. Burou, one of the first to ever perform such procedures.
I thought it might also be interesting for the younger generation to hear about what life was like for a trans person born in the 1930’s in a poor British family.
In case you’re interested, drop me a line!
Thank you so much for the wonderful praise.
I would love to interview April for Just a Bit Radical! Please let me know how best to connect with her. I am available via email at: email@example.com and also via Skype and mobile phone.
I think it would be amazing for our readers to hear about April’s journey and look forward to connecting! xoxo — Catherine
I’ve emailed our common friend, Anita, and will get back to you tomorrow with her details.
Just wanted to check if you got my email with April’s details?
